J A Sapphire, was born in Wilmington, Delaware, raised in the projects on 26th and Locust Streets as well as 9th and Pine Streets, graduating from Newark High School in Newark, Delaware. She has studied post-baccalaureate work at Georgia State University in the Arts, of International Economics and Modern Language. She speaks and reads four languages: English, French, Spanish, and is a beginner of Mandarin. She received her Baccalaureates in Science, in Business Administration, with a minor in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University. In addition, she a published model in Jet and Playboy Magazines. Also, she belonged to the corporate world for ten years before entering the entertainment business. The concept for the memoir series Sapphire was bornafter a murder was committed in front of her during her working shift as an exotic dancer in Atlanta, Georgia. I am one of the highest paid black, exotic dancers in the nation. I'm based in Atlanta, Georgia. I was an exotic dancer for sixteen years. I am an expert of the strip club industry and the interpersonal relationships that traditionally exist between men and women. My experienced eyes have seen the rise and fall of the strip club industry, the economy, our leaders, celebrities and professional athletes. I am entangled in a web of illusion that society deems the underground and entrapped in the collapse of society's mentality, self-image, and the interpersonal relationships between men and women. Being estranged from my family and being recently fired from my job I found myself making a split second decision between my present state of living and my the loss of my dignity.
