OverviewSanta Goes the Extra Mile for Children with Disabilities is an inspiring children's book about a boy named Alex, who teams up with Santa Claus to create a magical, sensory-friendly Christmas experience for children with disabilities. Drawing from his own experiences growing up with autism, Alex helps Santa and his elves make the North Pole inclusive, ensuring that every child can enjoy the holiday season comfortably. With the help of a lovable reindeer named Alison and some jolly elves, this story highlights the true spirit of Christmas-bringing joy and happiness to everyone, no matter their abilities. The inspiration behind the book: Dr. Kerry Magro, Ed.D., CAS, an award-winning speaker, author, and autism advocate, started an Autism & Sensory-Friendly Santa Event in 2014 in New Jersey. The event has since helped over 500 children with disabilities meet Santa in an inclusive environment. These events would not have been possible without the help of Rosanne Petruzelli, Camp Liberty, Cornerstone Montclair, Alison Turok, Rita Turok, Bakula Patel, Dennis, and Jennifer Scanlon. Dr. Magro started this event knowing his own challenges meeting Santa as a child due to his autism, and he wanted to support his community.
