OverviewSamreboi is a town created by a timber company, Samartex, within the West African rainforest for sustainable livelihood. The author shows that the town of about 2500 persons as per the 2012 statistics when the memoir was written, does not generate enough waste. Thus the book highlights sustainable use of forest resources. The picture may however be different today since illegal mining aka Galamsey is devasting the rainforest belt in Ghana. If the situation is worse today, especially the harmful effects of Galamsey on water treatment needed to generate electricity from steam and supply the entire township with potable water, then it is a poignant reminder that almost nothing bequeathed to this nation by our forebears has been maintained. The author worked with Samartex as a participant observer when he briefly took up employment. The book is, therefore, a must read for all those who need a first hand account of corporate governance of forest resources which impact climate change, global warming and the environment.
