The same or different? In her work, the author highlights the similarities and differences between same-sex and opposite-sex friendships in the emerging adulthood phase. To this end, differences in the functions and intimacy of friendships between two women, friendships between two men and opposite-sex friendships were recorded. The inclusion of the constellation of the circle of friends and the existence of a stable partnership were particularly insightful here. The qualitative analysis of common and different characteristics of friendships between two women, friendships between two men and opposite-sex friendships provided particularly exciting insights: there appear to be many similarities in combination with some very striking differences.
