Sally Margaret Field (born November 6, 1946) is an American actress. She became a household name at the age of 19 as Gidget in the 1960s sitcom of the same name.Field has won two Academy Awards, one for Norma Rae in 1979, and another for Places in the Heart in 1984. She has also won Emmy Awards in three different categories, one in 1977 for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for Sybil, one for Outstanding Guest Actress for portraying Abby Lockhart's mother Maggie on ER, in 2001, and an Outstanding Lead Actress award for her role as family matriarch Nora Holden Walker on the ABC drama Brothers & Sisters, in 2007.
