Sally and the Magic River

Overview

Sally and the Magic River is a powerful coming-of-age story where wonder rises from the ordinary and courage is forged through adversity. What begins as the normal drift of quiet everyday life suddenly becomes a sweeping journey into the good, the bad, the ugly, and the breathtakingly beautiful-all at once. Guided by Sally's sharp wit and unfiltered honesty, readers are carried into a world where a river does more than move the story forward-it awakens the soul. Rich with vivid, cinematic imagery, the story unfolds in scenes reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, The Wild River, and Gravity. Each moment invites you to slow down, see the colors, feel the movement, and experience the magic as if it were playing on the big screen. At its heart, this is a tale of resilience, imagination, and triumph-a journey that lingers long after the final page.

Author Information

Frank Gaertner entered the world in 1938, just as World War II was gathering its storm clouds. His parents looked like they'd stepped off a Hollywood set - a USO musician comedian father and a mother whose dream of becoming a dress designer was cut short by apredatory teacher. They wanted a perfect son. Instead, they got a nearsighted, constipated, loudmouthed little rebel who refused to cooperate with anyone's script.
