Overview

"Divided into two sections, this manual first deals with sale of goods and covers all major aspects of this subject, extending beyond the sale contracts for the suppply of goods and services. The authors deal with the essential concepts of property transfer and respective obligations of each party to perform its side of the contract and the remedies available in default. Statutory protection in its various forms is discussed and relevant statutory provisions are appropriately extracted for ease of reference. Particular attention is given to recent statutes such as the Sale of Goods Act 1994 and to the unfair terms in Consumer Contract Regulations 1994, which represent the contribiution of the European Union in this area. The work is also fully up-to-date in its discussion of recent case law authority. The second section, dealing with consumer credit, explores the Consumer Credit Act 1974, explaining its difficult concept with clarity. The discussion attempts to be ""user-friendly"" with flowcharts and a concise explanation of the calculation of rebates on early settlement. The practical focus of this part of the manual is repeatedly evident in its incorporation of an illustrative HP agreement; default and non-default notices; some pleading precedents and in the discussion of the relevant County Court Rules. The subject of credit and agreements is covered for the first time in these manuals. Appropriate consideration of the important cases involving time orders is also included."
