Overview

Ronald Preedy sailed yachts for a living, delivering them to places as far apart as Scotland, Spain, Martinique and the USA. In this varied collection of sixteen stories, he recalls some of his most memorable journeys. These include his near-fatal encounter with the October 1987 hurricane, off the coast of Spain. He also gets a taste of the world of 'Miami Vice' when, on a trip from Barbados to Florida, his boat is searched by fully armed Bahamian police officers who mistakenly suspect him of drug smuggling. But these dramatic incidents are off-set by many lighter ones, often caused by the yachts' owners themselves.
