Iris Van Rynbach has illustrated numerous books for young people. studied at Pratt Institute in New York City, the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Hartford Art School and Central Connecticut State University. Currently she teaches at University of Connecticut.
