Overview

Can Rachael escape the danger that threatens her by finding the love she thought she'd never find? A woman who values her independence above all else, Rachael Gooding excels at keeping men at a distance. Wielding her exotic good looks and razor sharp wit to intimidate rather than attract, she's managed to avoid the pain and complications she knows would come with a serious relationship. At the top of her game, Rachael believes all's right with her world, but when a dangerous, unknown stalker begins to threaten her, she's forced to turn to Detective Eugene Simms, a man she's wildly attracted to but has never been able to intimidate--one she fears could break her carefully guarded heart if she gave him the chance. When a man from her past is murdered in the park across the street from her apartment, Rachael must decide whether to tell Simms about her past and risk exposing everything she's spent the last ten years guarding so carefully. But telling all she knows may mean giving up something she's always wanted but never thought she could have.

Reviews

The chemistry between the lead characters was simply crackling. The flawless characterization aided the plot very much in being cohesive. The romance and the suspense angle both blended seamlessly, making the book a pleasurable read. The plot line had its fair share of twists, thereby keeping the suspense element alive. The writing was simply gripping. I couldn't put the book down. Patricia Paris has a wicked sense of humor. Both the leading characters were simply great and the tirade between them was highly entertaining. Nothing beats steamy romance with the right mix of humor. The book has all the ingredients in correct proportion, thereby making it perfect entertainment.--Readers' Favorite

Author Information

Patricia Paris lives in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland with her husband John; a lazy, but lovable cat named Shiloh; and James Brown, aka JB, the baddest, but also, most lovable dog in town. When not writing, you're likely to find the author exploring the Bay area's small towns and waterways, which provide endless inspiration for her writing; battling the weeds that insist on invading her gardens; or, being an avid foodie, experimenting with a new recipe in her kitchen. Patricia admits to being an unapologetic romantic, and she loves to give her readers that happily ever after, every time.
