Clifford Brooks is the author of three books on Afro-Cuban Quinto licks for Rumba Guaguanco Rumba Afro-Cuban Conga Drum Improvisation, Volume 1, and Rumba Soloing Technique and Rumba Afro-Cuban Conga Drum Improvisation, Volume 2, Mastering Clave with Quinto Licks and 50 Quinto Licks for Conga Drummers. He has over forty years of Afro-Cuban drumming experience and has taught drumming for twenty-five years. For decades, he and his wife Judith Justiz - former founding member for the Folkorico of Santiago de Cuba and founder of several Afro-Cuban folkloric dance companies in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1982 - have performed and worked together teaching the intricate rhythms of Afro-Cuban drumming, singing and dancing in workshops throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and California. For many years, they performed at the international World Drum Festival and San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, as well as cultural festivals throughout California.
