I highly recommend Rule a Healthy Roost. It's stocked with tips on everything from balancing your family's diet to how to get your kids involved in the kitchen, to some really fun fitness ideas for kids of different ages. Leslie Grant currently serves on the Atlanta Board of Education and works a part-time gig in the Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture at Emory University. From 2007-2012, she was the ""Mother Hen"" of Chickin Feed, LLC, a small business she created to help her family focus on raising healthy kids (chickins) from scratch. She wanted a simple, fun way for her kids to make wise decisions about what they were eating, as well as something to help her figure out what to make for dinner each night. Leslie and her ""chicken coop"" of talented friends released the original edition of this book in 2008, The Chickin Feed Primer, after appearing as the first ""Incredible People"" on the Rachael Ray Show. Chickin Feed, LLC also produced a series of books and a collection of children's tunes based upon a quirky set of Farm Grub characters. Leslie was involved in the startup of both the Neighborhood Charter School in Grant Park (now the K-8, Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School) and the Grant Park Cooperative Preschool, and has served on the boards of each school. She has volunteered in Farm to School programs through work with Georgia Organics, Atlanta Farm to School, the Grant Park Farmers Market, and other organizations. As a member of the Atlanta Board of Education, she serves as the chairperson of the Audit Committee and on the Executive Committee of the Council of Great City Schools. Leslie is very impressed by her ability to stay married to Don and the two great chickins they've raised.
