Rotorwash: Proof Has an Enemy

Overview

ROTORWASH is a suspense novel about what happens after the strange event-when the real fight is not against the light in the sky, but against the paperwork that decides whether it ""counts."" pasted On a warm March night, Mara and Cal drive a back road and see an amber glow hovering over the pines. Minutes later, helicopters arrive in formation-too organized to be coincidence-and Mara is burned through the truck's glass. By morning, the injury looks like an accusation. The couple does what reasonable people do: they ask for the incident report, the dispatch audio, the clinic notes. And the record begins to... vanish. A man named Keller appears with a badge that's always flashed too fast. He offers help that arrives before questions can form, and he warns them about ""noise."" A local lawyer tells them the ugly truth: description isn't causation. So they build leverage the only way outsiders can-by building a file. With attorney Melissa Kent, Mara learns to treat uncertainty like a discipline. Preserve originals. Force institutions to commit in writing. Subpoena the journals, the invoices, the vendor lists. As discovery unfolds, counter-records appear, witnesses are pressured, and a dull document hints at the mechanism: ""heat cone overlap,"" ""field response,"" and ""record hygiene."" The case ends without a confession, but not without constraints. And in the residual heat of the epilogue, Mara keeps the only ending that can't be erased: a method-because if reality can be edited by procedure, it can also be defended, line by line.
