This book takes the reader outside the house and into the many small ""dependencies"" that make up our domestic living environment. From small personal libraries, to gazebos, to studios, Rooms Outside the House will present a broad range of building types and architectural styles, complete with plans that will include: -gazebos -guest houses -garden rooms -pool houses -studios -libraries -home offices These structures often provide an inexpensive yet creative way to expand living space without the disruptions normally associated with expanding or remodeling the existing house. They can also add significant value to a property when it comes time to sell and give an estate-like quality to even modest spreads. Rooms Outside the House will feature approximately 20 diverse projects, ranging from small private libraries in Pennsylvania, Washington state, and California to pool houses in Florida, Connecticut, and Texas. Studios from New York and North Carolina will be included as will gazebos from across the US. Architects featured will include Bolin Cwynski, Miro Rivera Architects, Hanranhan and Meyers, Frank Harmond and more.

Recent books include Living Outside Inside, 25 Houses Under 1500 Square Feet, The Smart Home, and The Smart Loft. Trulove is a recipient of the Loeb Fellowship from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. He resides in Washington D.C. and New York.
