For Gary Stone, Rookstone Castle is just another lucrative restoration project, and a welcome one, until its owner shows him a sixty-year-old photograph of his own brand-new van. Unsettled, he gets to work, but is soon terrorised at 02:17 each morning by an ancient spirit with an urgent message. Failing to understand her warning, his team become unwitting accessories to a jewel heist when the castle is robbed. Besieged by the police and the media outside, hostage to dangerous criminals inside, the working-class hero must confront the not-so-working-class villain, whether he wants to or not. Trapped in a castle full of ghosts with a psychopath and a disobedient little dog, Gary also finds himself responsible for the actions of a bunch of hangry builders who are running out of sandwiches. Honestly, he can't see how things could possibly get any worse - which only illustrates the limits of his imagination.
