His poem writing started while stationed in Cuba, during the Missel's of October, the most notable poem titled ""Here's To You America"" was read by Paul Harvey on some of his news casts in 1976 for America's Bi-Centennial Fourth of July Celebration. This poem was also narrated by Mr. Coleman at Oregon's Bi-centennial city's celebration in 1976. Mr. Coleman has been an inspiration to others by receiving the Presidents gold award two years in a row, volunteering more than 4,000 hrs. a year in community service.
