ویلیام شکسپیر (۱۶۱۶-۱۵۶۴) شاعر، نمایشنامه نویس و بازیگر تئاتر انگلیسیست که بسیاری وی را بزرگترین نویسنده در زبان انگلیسی دانسته اند. شکسپیر در واریک شر متولد و بزرگ شد در هجده سالگی ازدواج کرد و صاحب سه فرزند شد آثار شکسپیر به همه زبانهای دنیا ترجمه شده و نمایشنامههای او به کرات و توسط بازیگران برجسته جهان اجرا گردیده اندرومئو و ژولیت نمایشنامهای تراژیک است در پنج پرده که یکی از محبوبترین نمایشنامههای شکسپیر در زمان حیاتش بوده و امروزه شخصیتهای اصلی داستان به عنوان عاشقانی آرمانی در میان ملل مختلف یاد میشونداین ترجمه بر اساس نسخۀ بسیار معتبر و ویراست شده فلجر انجام شده که در انتها نیز دو واکاوی نمایش، به قلم دکتر علی خراعی فر، سردبیر محترم مجله مترجم و میرمجید عُمرانی مترجم رسمی بنیاد ایبسن دانشگاه اسلو به آن اضافه گردیده استرومئو و ژولیت از یکسو داستان عشقی پاک نهاد و فرازمینیست عشقی که چون شهابی درخشان از راه میرسد و ردی ماندگار بر پهنه آسمان بشریت بر جای میگذارد و از سویی دیگر داستان کینه مندی، جهالت و عنادی ست که بینشان از هرچه خرد و خردمندی زبانه میکشد به آتشی ویرانگر زندگیها را میسوزاند و سرنوشت مردمان و سرزمینها را تباه میسازدWilliam Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English poet, playwright, and stage actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. This translation is based on the highly reliable and edited Folger edition, and at the end includes two analyses of the play written by Dr. Ali Khaza'i-far, the respected editor-in-chief of Motarjem magazine, and Mir-Majid Omrani, the official translator for the Ibsen Foundation at the University of Oslo. Romeo and Juliet is, on one hand, the story of a pure and transcendent love-a love that appears like a brilliant meteor and leaves an enduring trace across the sky of humanity. On the other hand, it is the story of hatred, ignorance, and stubborn enmity, flames that rise far above all reason and wisdom, burning lives to ashes and devastating the fate of peoples and lands.
