OverviewThis study looks at socio-economic and cultural aspects of the Iron Age inhabitants of the central Scottish borders, usually identified as the Selgovae, and discusses native interactions with Rome, Roman influences, and the direct effects of Roman military occupation. Using information from existing excavations, Wilson compiles an inventory of relevant finds from Roman and native sites, and assesses socio-political and economic structures, the impact of Rome, as well as the impact of Roman withdrawal, and evidence for the spread of Christianity.
