Ernest G. Fischer, an admiral in the Texas Navy, spent a lifetime researching this volume. A native Texan, he studied at the University of Texas and earned a degree in journalism at the University of Missouri. He has taught at several universities and was a writer for fifty years. He is also the author of The Last Stitch.
