Overview

Robert Francis Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on November 20, 1925, as the seventh child of Rose and Joseph P. Kennedy, a close-knit and competitive family. I was the seventh of nine children, he later reflected, and you have to struggle to survive when you come from that low. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he went to Milton Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in government from Harvard University in 1948. Three years later, he graduated with honors from the University of Virginia Law School.
