She is a speech-language pathologist and lectures on childhood communication development and disorders. Her research interests relate to the lexical development of children with and without language impairment in bilingual contexts. Ciara O'Toole is a Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at University College Cork, Ireland. She is a speech and language therapist with teaching and research interests in the area of paediatric communication development and disorders.
