Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJohn Steele is Professor of the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity and Chair of the Department of Egyptology and Assyriology at Brown University. He is a historian of astronomy and related disciplines with a particular focus on Babylonian astronomy. He is particularly interested in the interconnections between different aspects of Babylonian astronomy (eg observational, predictive, descriptive, and theoretical) and between Babylonian astronomy and other parts of Babylonian scholarship (e.g. astrology, divination, and mathematics). Steele is the author or editor of eleven books including Observations and Predictions of Eclipse Times by Early Astronomers (Kluwer 2000), A Brief Introduction to Astronomy in the Middle East (Saqi Books 2008), and The Circulation of Astronomical Knowledge in the Ancient World (Brill 2016), and edits the book series Scientific Writings from the Ancient and Medieval World (Routledge).
