OverviewRise, with Healing in Our Wings The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) is mysterious to those outside of it, and fulfilling and often challenging to those within it. With Rise, with Healing in Our Wings, author and longtime LDS member Paul H. Schneiter lifts the veil with a reaffirming, touching glimpse inside the life. Living LDS standards with true devotion is a 24/7 proposition: The average church member attends three hours of church on Sundays (sometimes with meetings during the week), shuns R-rated movies and media that conflict with their values, dedicates 10 percent of their income to the church, participates in fasts, and more. The mission of this book is to foster in you a stronger sense of faith and a firmer resolve to live within the challenges of the LDS lifestyle. Rise, with Healing in Our Wings offers readers a collection of true stories and poems aimed at providing a straightforward, unvarnished account of life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Is it possible for me to be objective in evaluating my own work? Probably not. Consequently, I have relied on the judgment of others, to wit: Amazon readers give "Rise, with Healing in Our Wings" 11, five-star reviews; and Barnes and Noble readers give it 2, five-star reviews (at this writing). It seems to me their reading of "Rise" counts for something.
The book consists of 33 personal experiences that have tested my allegiance to my Mormon faith. Sometimes I have passed those tests, and sometimes I have not. But all have been valuable learning experiences applicable to men and women of all faiths and of no faith.
Many of the 20 poems use a similar format.
Obviously, I think the book has merit.
