Ripple: An Intimate Exchange of Urgency and Hope Between An Ecologist and His Daughter is a narrative of letters written by an ecologist dad to his daughter upon her coming-of-age. Drawing upon his personal history, family anecdotes, and shared memories, Powers envisions a path for humanity's reintegration with nature, and a chance to save the life force that runs through all of us. A story of separation has long gripped the human race: that people are separate--with more advanced habitats, technologies, and values--from our natural surroundings and fellow creatures. Author Information

William Powers is an author, activist, and leading expert in deep ecology. He is a senior fellow at World Policy Institute, and he founded the Living Well Collaborative, supporting a new paradigm for healing the planet and nourishing community and economy at the local level. Powers has published five nonfiction books within the sustainability space, including Dispatches from the Sweet Life and Twelve by Twelve, and his essays and commentaries on global issues have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, the Atlantic, and Fresh Air. Malcolm Hillgartner has narrated over 175 audiobooks. He was named an AudioFile Best Voice of 2013. His work ranges from children's titles such as On the Blue Comet (AudioFile Best of 2011, Earphones), and Neal Stevenson's sci-fi epic REAMDE (Audible.com Best of 2011) to the biographies Kissinger (AudioFile Best of 2013, Earphones) and Cheever (AudioFile Best of 2009, Earphones). He is also an accomplished actor, writer, and musician. With his wife and partner, Jahnna Beecham, he has written over 130 books for teens and young readers, as well as the musicals Chaps! and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Musical, which have been produced in the U.S. and Canada. Bianca Bryan's versatile voice-over career spans national commercials for Gold Bond, Dick's, Allegra, and Virginia Lottery; on NPR as VPM's underwriting announcer; and as a recurring voice in World of Warcraft. Fluent in Spanish, her upbringing in countries like Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Zimbabwe, and South Africa helps her tap into diverse dialects and cultures. She is also the seventh female PA announcer in baseball history for the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the double A team for the San Francisco Giants.
