Overview

Riona is grieving the loss of her dad, Gramp, and Uncle Callum during the pandemic. The kids help Mom clear out Gramp's house so their Uncle Brendan can move in to manage the ranch. They are shocked by the clutter and dust they find in the attic. They find a crudely made bowl that had been their ancestor's. Why didn't Gramps tell anyone about these things? Riona noticed a large trunk that she asked her mom for. Riona finds homemade journals that talk about the mysterious death of some ancestors. A lot of unusual family history is unearthed. Why were these items hidden? Why didn't Gramps tell them? Why was the bowl hidden?

Author Information

M. E. Hembroff grew up in rural Manitoba. She created many games and activities during her childhood. Many years later she started to have strange dreams about books with blank pages and nothing on the covers. An artist friend told her she was supposed to write the stories and create the covers. At that time, Gramma Mouse Tells a Story was born and the idea for Bess's Magical Garden surfaced. Since then she has written several other books. She now resides in Strathmore, Alberta, with her two cats. Her books are sold at local craft sales and on Amazon.
