Diario Rio Negro is a daily newspaper edited in General Roca, and published in the provinces of Rio Negro, Neuquen, South La Pampa, North Chubut, South Buenos Aires and Buenos Aires City. The Rio Negro was founded on May 1, 1912 by Fernando Emilio Rajneri. At first the newspaper was published every fortnight but later it was published weekly. Since 1958 the newspaper circulates as a daily newspaper. An on-line version of the daily is available since August 5, 1997. The current chief director of the newspaper, Julio Rajneri, is the son of the founder, and the former national minister of education, who server during Alfonsin's mandate.
