Overview

After losing her family in a crowd of refugees in Shanghai port in 1941, Irene, a young half-Russian, half-American, becomes a nightclub dancer, but soon is taken to an interment camp. She is forced to rely on a Japanese officer, who is in love with her and finds herself at his mercy in this new solitary world. Ten years later, she lives as his official lover and a member of an influential Japanese clan. One day she discovers that her family survived the war.
