OverviewHunting and fishing has a heart rendering appeal to all outdoor people who pursue in season, fin, feather or fur as a hobby or for culinary reasons. Whether he or she is now one of the 'armchair type' or still actively takes part 'in the field' is immaterial, for when they become embroiled in the true enthralling under-the-moon adventures of 'Jock the Lad' the written word becomes likened to reality and the reader relives Jock's adventures of yesteryear as they unfold on the pages. Jock the Lad operated in the Scottish Highlands and elsewhere for nigh on forty years, without being apprehended or even identified. That could justify the claim that he was a very successful, if not the most successful all round Highland poacher of the 20th century. By reading Ring Around the Moon for yourself can you decide if that claim sticks. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationBorn, not only a Scotsman but a Highlander boot, in the tiny fishing village of Inver in 1933, I happily grew up amid thatched cottages and all that entailed, (your imagination will have to run riot here), as space dictates description/content. Shooting and fishing was taught to me from a very early age by family members. These bygone times are relived in 'Ring Around the Moon', honestly and accurately, with no embellishments. Now-a-days it is utterly impossible for anyone to imagine just what such a childhood entailed nor the opportunities and freedom that that time provided for a growing lad. Regrettably I now admit that I neglected my schooling shamelessly whilst pursuing all the opportunities that came my way for shooting or fishing, legally or illegally, almost on a daily basis. Hench my lack of education and scholarly qualifications. Ring Around the Moon is not written for self-glorification but rather to record just how life was all these years ago, in the Highlands of Scotland. In addition to recording the adventures of 'Jock the Lad' among others in 'Ring Around the Moon', with the help of my loving partner Morag, we wrote a further two books relating to the Highlands of Scotland, 'Ring Around the Table', is full of old Cottar recipes and amusing anecdotes and 'Ring Around the Morrich' relates to our locality during the Second World War. Again for 'the record' through the eyes of Morag and I. For more years than I care to remember it was my intention to record and publish, for posterity, these memoirs before it was too late. So readers here they are and I sincerely hope that you will get as much enjoyment from the pages as I got compiling them. Sincerely, Euilleam and Morag.to Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
