An Adorable Book That Teaches Numbers... and Beaching! This book is so super cute! The writing is very well done, following a rhyming pattern to keep it engaging. It's easy to fall into predictable patterns with counting books, but the author manages to avoid that here - keeping it fun, while maintaining a nice rythm. The illustrations are wonderful, as well. Well done and full, without feeling busy or overdone. Beachy pastels predominate, and there is plenty of color to keep the eye interested. The images tell the story well for non-reading children following along. And the characters are just adorable, with their little sunglasses! Kim Bates is a children's book author from the Alabama Gulf Coast. She is a daughter, wife, and mother. She lives with her husband Tim and her son Landon and enjoys the peaceful quiet of the country. Kim has been many things throughout her life. This includes a farmer's daughter, which cultivated a love for animals; a piano player, which instilled a deep love for music; and a shipyard worker, which has taught her that sometimes the hardest work is the most fulfilling.
