Richard Hyatt has been an award-winning reporter and columnist for newspapers in Georgia for more than 40 years. Most of his career in journalism has been spent with the Ledger-Enquirer in Columbus where he has provided generations of loyal readers a look at the important events of the day and the fascinating stories behind them. His work also appears on www.richardhyattcolumbus.com - his popular news and opinion Website. Hyatt has earned scores of statewide awards for writing and reporting, including the prestigious Green Eyeshade Award. Georgia Trend named him one of the most influential journalists in the state. Richard Hyatt's Columbus is his thirteenth book. Previous books include acclaimed biographies of several distinguished Georgians and readable histories of the state and region. A native of Atlanta, he attended Georgia State University and graduated from Columbus State University. Hyatt lives in Columbus with his wife Kaye and their daughter Kamryn. He has two other daughters, Heather and Kaitlin.
