Born January 27, 1943 in Huntsville, Texas. Graduated Salutatorian of Sam Houston High School in 1961. Graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from Prairie View A & M University. Received master's degree in business administration from Texas Southern University. Received doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University. Married Helen Amelia Evans, 1963. Children; Tonya Renee Butler, Regina Kimberly Douglass, Monica Mechelle Chu, Cecelia Marie Hurd. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. An Army Aviator who flew twenty-five combat missions during the height of the Vietnam conflict. Awarded Combat Medal with the 23rd cluster. Following service to his country he worked for Pfizer Pharmaceutical as a sales representative. He has served in the capacity of advisor, advocate, consultant as well as a Warden in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He is an avid hunter, and fisherman who loves to spend time with family.
