Overview

Frog loves to sing, and Duck enjoys telling his stories, but the bog in which they live seem to be too small for both of them to be heard. Will the two be able to work together? Written and illustrated by a mother/daughter team, this tale combines whimsy and word play to teach the important life lesson of cooperation.

Author Information

Danica Patchen is a former secondary English teacher, a talkative wife to her talkative husband Jason, and a mother of three very verbal children. There is never a shortage of words in their home. She wrote this book with the belief that memorable alliteration or even the lilt of an unusual word can spark curiosity and a love for language in a young child. Diane Murphy, retired from teaching art, now enjoys joint adventures with her daughter. A toy frog belonging to one of Diane's grandchildren became the patient model complying with needed manipulations for his character. The duck is a composite of photos of domestic ducks and the giant lily pads are a childhood memory of those seen at the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. The dragon fly was added at the suggestion of her grandchildren who serve as her editing committee. Diane lives with her husband Robb in their 100-year-old home in Omaha, Nebraska.
