OverviewPrior to May 1825, all wills, inventories, and estate settlements were recorded in the Rhea County, Tennessee court minute book. This publication offers documents transcribed from a copy of the original 1823 to 1828 minute book, the oldest book the Rhea County Courthouse currently holds. These records include the wills of Isaac Rice Sr., John Woodward, and George Walker, inventories and estate sales for the following: Daniel Rawlings, William Walker, Robert Ferguson, William Lewis, John Moore, William Floyd, John Woodward, and Jon Chapman, as well as settlements made on the following estates: Caleb Martin, Jeremiah Dunkin, John Shafer, and William French. This volume also contains the Revolutionary War pension applications sent by Thomas Moore and Joseph Atchley, along with two applications for the emancipation of slaves submitted by Mary Walker and Rezin Rawlings. The author uses an index arranged alphabetically by surname or subject to conclude this work.
