Rewrite Your Normal: A Workbook for Rebels, Survivors, and Cycle-Breakers

Overview

Rewrite Your Normal: A Workbook for Rebels, Survivors, and Cycle-Breakers is a guided, trauma-informed workbook designed to help readers identify, examine, and break the patterns they inherited-so they can build lives rooted in choice, clarity, and self-trust. Created as a companion to Chasing Normal, this workbook offers structured space to process the past while actively reshaping the future. It is designed for readers who grew up navigating chaos, silence, or survival mode, and who are ready to move beyond simply coping. Through reflective prompts, guided journaling, creative exercises, and accessible psychoeducational insights, readers explore themes such as identity, family systems, resilience, boundaries, grief, and generational change. Each chapter helps readers uncover the beliefs and rules they absorbed early in life, question what no longer serves them, and intentionally rewrite their personal narratives. The workbook addresses how family patterns repeat across generations, how those cycles can be interrupted, and how healthier dynamics can be built-with partners, children, and oneself. Rather than offering quick fixes or perfection, it emphasizes awareness, compassion, and sustainable growth. Rewrite Your Normal balances depth with approachability, acknowledging that healing can be serious work while still allowing room for humor, honesty, and humanity. The tone is supportive, direct, and empowering, making the workbook suitable for individual reflection, therapeutic support settings, or group discussion. This workbook is ideal for trauma survivors, adult children of dysfunctional families, cycle-breaking parents, and anyone navigating complicated personal histories. It offers a clear reminder: understanding the past does not mean being defined by it. With intention and support, it is possible to break the cycle-and begin again.

Author Information

I'm a writer, educator, and trauma survivor who believes deeply in the power of telling the truth out loud. I grew up on the wrong side of the highway and the wrong side of the tracks, raised by a mother I half jokingly call the Government Cheese Mommy Dearest. My childhood included sexual abuse, emotional harm, and a long lesson in pretending chaos was normal. For years, I tried to outrun that past through relationships and alcohol. In 2005, I met my husband and learned a different definition of love, one built on patience, safety, and laughter instead of fear.I wrote a memoir called Chasing Normal about surviving abuse and learning to believe in love again. I followed it with the Rewriting Normal workbook for anyone trying to untangle their own story and decide what normal actually means. I also created Cracked Track Parenting for fellow cycle breakers raising kids without a healthy blueprint.
