A gay couple flees the city from the impending apocalypse. They meet another artist on the way and their hopes and plans transform unpredictably. Finnish multi-disciplinary artist Jaakko Pallasvuo's Retreat brings a postmodern knowingness to his take on the dystopian genre as he explores the clashing ideologies and emotions of a queer love triangle set at the twilight of the human race. Jaakko Pallasvuo is a Finnish artist and novelist working in painting, sculpture, video, photography, books, and digital media. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums across North America (Detroit, Chicago, Toronto), South America (Sao Paulo), Europe (Berlin, Paris, London, Milan, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Madrid, Prague, Vienna) and Asia (Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai). His previous graphic novels are Pure Shores and Easy Rider, both by British art book publisher Landfill Editions. As a multi-disciplinary artist, Pallasvuo is both inspired by and heavily engaged in Internet culture as a source of material, a subject unto itself, and a space to realize his work.
