OverviewThe International Conference on Climate Change and Ecosystem Restoration (ICCCER), organized by The Restoration Alliance and Moi University, addresses and consolidates efforts toward climate change mitigation through landscape restoration. With a special emphasis on the Great Rift Valley’s unique and biodiverse landscapes, this conference aims to create a robust platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration between academia, government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector actors. ICCCER focuses on the cross-disciplinary themes of climate change, ecosystem conservation, adaptation, and landscape restoration. Major themes of the 2024 meeting highlight the management of restoration projects, AI and other emerging technologies, practical aspects of biodiversity and conservation initiatives, and cross-sectoral initiatives that incorporate health, agriculture, socio-economic aspects with climate change adaptation and mitigation and ecosystem restoration. He has a specific interest in statistical estimation tools used to solve multidimensional sampling problems. Nixon currently works with a research team studying the applications of Artificial Intelligence technologies in innovative and sustainable strategies towards renewable energy solutions and the adaptation and mitigation of climate change. Charles Rono is a researcher and a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry, Kisii University. He is actively involved in collaborative interdisciplinary research focused on sustainable science solutions to climate change and ecosystem health. Some of his contributions include harnessing data chemistry and artificial intelligence for sustainability in product and process development, and phytochemicals in the development of materials for renewable energy applications.
