Restoration of the American Mind will ultimately require restoring the American Declaration of Independence to its proper place as our Supreme Unamendable Moral Law. Dr. Cherry's Prescription is a proposed 28th Amendment to the Constitution making the Declaration of Independence the supreme unamendable Moral Law of the United States of America. Our Constitution must be pinned down by more than the opinion of five judges, or even by the will of the American majority; in order to avoid tyranny. Our Constitution must fall into compliance with the Law of Nature and Nature's God. The fact that Dr. Ronald R. Cherry felt compelled to write Restoring the American Mind is a sign of how far America has fallen due to turning our collective backs on our Republic's founding principles. What is truly sobering is that those luminous principles, once accepted by an overwhelming majority of Americans, are neither welcome nor respected, much less taught, in our nation's schools today. Perhaps that is not surprising, since most of our schools - primary, secondary and post-secondary - are government-financed and government-regulated. State control of education was Point No. 10 in Karl Marx's ten-point platform for turning a society of free people into cogs in a state-run system. Thank God for home-schooling and private Christian schools! Although the author recommends amendments to the Constitution to undo massive damage to our federal system, the title of his book points to where the real action must take place: Either the principles of liberty and justice regain their prominence in the American mind, or America as we know it will perish from the earth.
