OverviewThis is a daily devotional self-study which offers practical and biblical guidance to lead you to understand the problems that cause life to become difficult. This study is designed to be used as a personal study. This is the second book which focuses on changing our thinking and beliefs. As you walk through this workbook, we recommend that you openly examine yourself. Restoration Road Individual Study Guide - Volume 2 will help you learn: WEEK 1 - UNDERSTANDING WHERE WE CAME FROM Pain from the past, if not healed, will carry forward and direct how we live and view life. Dragging around excess baggage is not productive to living a healthy life. Understanding the sins of our ancestors can help us see what we are repeating from those that lived before us. WEEK 2 - GOD'S DESIGN FOR FAMILY - PART 1 Understanding God's design for the family helps us to see where our family of origin went wrong and what they did right. God is both separate and belonging at the same time. While man is more separate and woman more belonging, when they come together, God is best reflected. WEEK 3 - GOD'S DESIGN FOR FAMILY - PART 2 The best picture of the image of God is reflected in covenant of marriage. This week we will look at the differences between the sexes. There are primary needs created in each sex that is determined by the hormones God gave to each gender. When we learn to become emotionally healthy ourselves, we can then pick a healthy mate. WEEK 4 - GOD'S DESIGN FOR FAMILY - PART 3 This week we will look more closely at the dynamic of a healthy home. Family health is not something that you discover, it is something that must be developed. We will also learn how a parent should model appropriately for the same sex child and what happens when wrong modeling happens. WEEK 5 - PATHOLOGY OF THE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY Lots of pathology takes place in a dysfunctional family. Attention gets focused on the emotionally needy person. Limits get placed on expression of feelings and talk about family secrets or problems is discouraged. Identifying dysfunction in your family will allow you to get more in touch with your feelings and overcome the loss of your childhood. WEEK 6 - HEALING PAINFUL MEMORIES The passing of time doesn't mean healing will happen. In-fact a painful memory left un-dealt with can cause the pain to increase. The weight of painful memories can take a toll on you emotionally and physically. WEEK 7 - BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND To overcome any unwanted behavior, your greatest battle will be fought in your thinking. The mind retains its memories with the original emotions attached until rewiring takes place. The messages we decide to believe can become our core beliefs. Core beliefs are thoughts that have been so hard wired into us that we live our life by them. WEEK 8 - LIES WE BELIEVE ABOUT OURSELVES There are some specific lies that we believe about ourselves that are common to many. Most of the emotional struggles, relationship difficulties, and spiritual setbacks are caused by the lies we tell ourselves. WEEK 9 - LIES WE BELIEVE ABOUT GOD Everything in our spiritual life depends upon the sort of God we worship. If we have wrong thinking about God, we will have wrong thinking about everything else. WEEK 10 - LIES THAT COME FROM THE WORLD AROUND US Most messages we hear on a daily basis are not productive and add no value to our life. Some messages in fact are destructive. WEEK 11 - FINDING YOUR IDENTITY AND VALUE Your identity isn't in your name or in what you do. To have lasting self-worth, you must put your identity in Jesus Christ and not in other things. WEEK 12 - FORGIVENESS AND RESTITUTION Forgiveness is not for the other person, it is to bring you freedom from the weight it brings. Asking others for forgiveness and making restitution is part of God's path in restoration. Thanks to Jesus Christ, I am a completely new creation. The old me is gone and I am in the process of restoration. God calls me one of His children. Yes, I still sin, but it is not who I am. The old things I used to do are not what I identify myself as. I didn't use to identify myself the way God sees me. Instead, I viewed myself the way others did and I felt worthless. I didn't grow up in a Christian family and I wasn't told how much I was valued. I grew up in a single parent home where by the time I was twelve, I felt abandoned, unwanted and abused. At the age of ten my step father decided to use my body for his own sexual pleasure. His sins against me changed what I believed about myself. By the time I reached my teenage years; alcohol, drugs and promiscuity had become my way of life and I was on a collision course. At the age of eighteen, my boyfriend decided to share Jesus with me. He shared that Jesus was someone who loved me and had died for me so I could go to heaven. Those words stayed with me and that evening, I talked to Jesus for the first time. I said, If you really are there and you do love me, I believe that you died for my sins. Please help me! Those words changed my entire life and brought me into an amazing relationship with a God that can do big things. He has changed everything in my life and made me a new person. My own life changes led me to create Restoration Road. God called me to share His restoring power through the lessons that changed me. I accepted His call and consider it an honor to be used by God to help others. I am only an empty vessel; a tool on the tool bench. My prayer is; that God will pick me up and use me in the life of others to bring freedom and joy. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
