Reviews

""In Resting Place of Survival, Gianella Ghiglino writes poems that sing with the love and grace of ancestors and the wisdom of lands both ancient and new. A beautiful journey of language and insight."" -Kali Fajardo-Anstine, bestselling author of Woman of Light and Sabrina & Corina ""These poems are conversations that you want to eavesdrop on. Ghiglino lets you listen in and you are let into secrets, given advice and made to feel as if you belonged cause she is talking to you. They speak to you of loss and beauty, of the ways in which we are connected to each other and at the same time fractured. These poems do not hide in the room to speak, quietly whispering their concerns; they stand on the front porch and laugh when they want to, cry when needed and sing songs that at times calm us, at others make us want to dance and sometimes make us want to rage."" -Sami Miranda, author of Protection from Erasure and Departure

Author Information

Peruvian-born and LA-raised, Gianella Ghiglino began writing poetry at five years old while simultaneously learning to speak English. Her work as a journalist includes covering the ongoing refugee crisis, the border wall construction, and how the pandemic has affected border cities. She has also worked in Texas, reporting on abortion rights and climate change. She believes in the power of storytelling, whether in the newsroom, or at home, where she writes her most intimate thoughts into poems.
