He is a tenured professor in language and literacy with more than 22 years experience working with preservice and inservice teachers. He holds a PhD in Reading from University of North Texas, an MBE from Southern Methodist University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering with a minor in literature from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has more than 10 edited texts, 25 + peer reviewed publications, and several funded grants relating to teacher education. He is editor of Literacy Research, and Instruction, and the Texas Association of Literacy Education journal. Sharla Snider is Professor and Division Head of Early Childhood Education in the School of Education at Texas Woman's University. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman's University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of North Texas. Dr. Snider has served in various faculty and administrative roles, including former interim Chair of the Department of Literacy and Learning. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at major conferences, and secured over $1 million in external funding from sources including the U.S. Department of Education and Intel Corporation.
