Since 1990 Dr. Salvetti is involved in research activity in various topics: the role of the sympathetic nervous system and of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension, angina pectoris and heart failure; the pathophysiology of cardiac hypertrophy in essential hypertension; the interrelationships between cardiac and vascular changes and their regression after treatment; the noninvasive evaluation of endothelial function, arterial atherosclerosis and arterial stiffness in low and high risk subjects. He is author of more than 140 papers and he is member of different study groups, among which the “Micro and macrocirculation” group of the European Society of Cardiology.
