The old Cartesian or co-ordinate system is the basisof the whole method-and notwithstanding this, the author is satis-ed thatthe reader will -nd much originality in his performance, and Degreesatters himselfthat he has done something to amuse, if not to instruct, Mathematicians.Though the work is not intended as an elementary one, but rather assupplementary to existing treatises on conic sections, any intelligent studentwho has digested Euclid, and the usual mode of applying Algebra to Geom-etry, will meet but little di+/-culty in the following pages.
