Research Methods in Nursing and Midwifery

Overview

Follow the pathways of evidence-based practice to illustrate how research impacts on all aspects of nursing. This book shows students the principles of doing research and using systematic review for evidence-based practice. It addresses emerging issues of practice development using evidence-based practice as a guide. Students are encouraged to see the importance of research through demonstrations of how all the practical aspects of nursing have their origins in research. With its focus on the application of research in evidence based practice, Research Methods in Nursing and Midwifery begins with the basics of choosing what form of research to use for what topic, and builds on that knowledge with specific research methods, population, sample, data collection and data analyses. Key Features Pathways to effective research: unique to this book, easy to follow flowcharts illustrate the processes and decisions students would make when undertaking a research project. Ann and Bob: at the beginning of each chapter there is a case study about the research of Ann and Bob. At the end of each chapter they appear again showing how their project has progressed using the research methods in that chapter. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are encouraged throughout with wide-ranging and relevant case studies and questions; problem-solving activities and practice exercises. 2-colour design ensures all the features stand out and are accessible. Appendices of documents that nursing students will find useful are included at the end of many of the chapters
