Magdalena Mateo, PhD, RN, FAAN, was Associate Professor Emeritus, Northwestern University School of Nursing, Boston. She won a 1999 AJN Book of the Year Award for her Using and Conducting Nursing Research in the Clinical Setting, and was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing in 1992. She has written numerous articles and book chapters. Her major areas of research included research development and dissemination in the clinical arena, workforce diversity, and neuroscience (mild traumatic brain injury).
