P-47 Thunderbolt Francais: 1943-1960

Overview

The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt is one of World War II fighters produced in the argest numbers. It is also one of largest and heaviest piston-engined single-seaters ever designed. Used massively by the United States, in the Pacific as well as in Europe, nearly 450 of the type were provided to France from 1943, which were used by the newly reconstructed Air Force not only in the last months of World War II, but they remained in service long enough to take part in the first operations of""law enforcement"" in Algeria, as a close-support aircraft, thanks to its robustness and its great carrying capacity.

Reviews

... an outstanding book on the type and makes for an excellent reference for the enthusiast and modeler alike. You will not be disappointed. --Modeling Madness ...photos are excellent, and most have not been published before to my knowledge. ...Should definitely be on your list for prospective purchase if you are interested in French P-47's... useful and highly recommended. --IPMS/USA, # 43146 ... any Thunderbolt fan and indeed any aviation history buff, will find Guillemin's book a fascinating addition to one's aviation bookcase. And, if you just happen to read French, well all the better --Logbook ...would make a great addition to any modeler's shelf. The nice presentation more than overcomes my inability to read the text, and for those who can read French, this book will be an even more valuable resource. --Internet Modeler Even though this book is in French, it is a book for anyone who likes the P-47. ...does an outstanding job of giving details about each Group that flew the Thunderbolt. ...a solid book with no counterpart on the literary market. --Air Power History
