OverviewThis paper reports on the binding recommendations adopted during the meeting in a variety of areas, including management plans for European eel and deep-water red shrimp fisheries in the Levant and Ionian Seas, and demersal fisheries in the Strait of Sicily. Overall, eleven binding recommendations were adopted, including conservation of sharks and rays, regional research programmes on blue crab in the Mediterranean and on rapa whelk fisheries in the Black Sea, and access to information and data related to monitoring, control and surveillance and regional marking of fishing gear. The Commission also welcomed the establishment of five sub-regional technical units in Bulgaria, Croatia, Lebanon, Spain and Tunisia and adopted its programme of work for the next intersession.
