Renga for Obama: An Occasional Poem


Overview

Renga for Obama, a collection inspired by the Obama presidency, features over 200 American poets writing in pairs, including Ocean Vuong and Jane Hirschfield, Cornelius Eady and Marie Howe, and Jorie Graham and Henri Cole. The project, which originally appeared at Harvard Review Online, published two stanzas in the Japanese tan-renga form each day for the first hundred days of the first Trump administration. This limited-edition chapbook features an introduction by Major Jackson.

Author Information

Major Jackson is the author of six books of poetry, including Razzle Dazzle: New & Selected Poems; Hoops, finalist for an NAACP Image Award; and Leaving Saturn, finalist for a National Book Critics Award and winner of the Cave Canem Poetry Prize. He is the Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Chair in the Humanities at Vanderbilt University and an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He also serves as poetry editor at Harvard Review.
