Although concerned with one particularly fine collection, this book provides a comprehensive account of the objets de luxe made during the Renaissance, throughout the eighteenth century and at the Russian court of 1900. There is an extensive introduction and in the catalogue which follows, as well as illustrating the items from the collection, many comparative pieces are included, together with the graphic sources and marks where these apply.
