Reviews

'..an important addition to the comparative study of health professions and the organisation of health care work...analyses health professions in a cross-country comparative context...the study goes beyond the familiar professions-state duality and is an important addition to the literature...a well rounded and fairly comprehensive study...by including nursing the study addresses a clear shortcoming in the literature...the strongly theory-driven nature of the analysis should provide a valuable basis for future studies.' - Viola Burau, Critical Public Health '..this is a useful overview that will be of particular interest to students looking at comparative social policy and health policy in Europe.' - Dr Stephen Timmons, Medical Sociology News 'It is a volume that includes an excellent combination of theory and empirical data, worth reading by academics, policy-makers and administrators.' - Ana M. Guillen, Public Administration
