There are illustrations, many of which are contemporary to the narrative, and some helpful maps to support the campaigns. Well worth the read. * Wargames, Soldiers, and Strategy * Highly recommended for collectors of memoirs of the Peninsular War or Waterloo. I would far rather have this edition than a copy of the original! Winner of the 'Miniature Wargames Recommends' award for July 2017. * Miniature Wargames - Arthur Harman * Andrew Bamford's exceptional editing ensures that Hay's ""reminiscences"" are as accurate as can be, whilst still retaining the allure of a young man in the thick of the action and anxious to record what is going on for posterity...Comparable to some of the diaries and essays written by the young men who fought in the first world war. This is an extraordinary piece of work. * Books Monthly *" Highly recommended for collectors of memoirs of the Peninsular War or Waterloo. I would far rather have this edition than a copy of the original! -- Arthur Harman Miniature Wargames - Arthur Harman Author InformationWilliam Hay (1794–1855) served in the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars, rising to the rank of captain before returning to civilian life.
